This is because it provides twice the throughput and bandwidth in half the time, so it is more efficient and scalable with high-speed data needs like video on demand, HDTV etc. It also provides symmetrical speeds meaning that download and upload speeds are equal (versus with DOCSIS 3 where download speed was always faster than upload speed).
